Everyone knows that the old Wendy's fries were...Not so good. I really like the new ones, they are more consistent then the old fries and the new seasoning I like. I am not sure if "Sea Salt" is a marketing ploy and it is really table salt but it does not really matter. It is the taste.
What I really want to know is how they made the change. Clearly many others disliked their fries like me. But some how they had to market test some new types of fries and then they had to commit to the new taste. Remember that this is not a simple change, just ask Coke. Remember New Coke! Only if you are older than 25.
So what I want to know is how they market tested. How do you survey these customers? OK obviously I would not want that job, but would love to see the results! Hey Mark you still have any contacts?

Basically, they have test markets around the country who get the new products so they can test them on real customers to get their feedback. There are only certain stores in certain markets who get to test new products (mainly in the cities), so I am not sure of that selection process, but nonetheless, this is how they do it.
I have not had the new fries, but I LOVED the old fries.
