Had a salesperson call on me yesterday.

They had an inside sales person set the appointment and really to get that far was impressive. The company calling on me was all initials and I had to google them just to figure out what they did. However I was curious about the person that was going to do the visit because the inside person was so good.

Anyway the sales rep showed up 10 min early (Good start) then went all down hill. No questions about who I was or what I did. Nothing about who this rep was or their qualifications. Finally after 10 minutes I ask what their company did specifically.

Lesson is go back to the basics. Sell yourself, sell your company then your products. And in there you have to know who you are talking to.

Needless to say I will not be doing business with this company.

Vegas Bound

Leave for Vegas tomorrow night. Nope, not for work. Your right, I did just have two weeks of vacation. I have been telling people that I am not saving the vacation for December this year. Might as well start now.

Jenifer and I are going with some good friends of ours. Should be fun. I will probably post some pictures!

What is the answer?

I had a sales rep talk to me about a customer today. He could sell them solution A and make great margin, or solution B that was the correct solution and make minimal margin.

ANSWER? Always sell what is right for the customer. Short cuts, taking advantage of people or looking what benefits yourself first will come back and haunt you. Most of the time you will be rewarded in the long run for doing the right thing.

I hope people that have the opportunity in dealing with me do the same.

My first on camera experience.

Today I had my first professional on camera experience. Not just TV but for Intel. I found it interesting the amount of knowledge the people had that did the filming. 6 lights (Even a "Hair" light I am thankful to still need that) 3 cameras and even a guy that followed me walking on a cart for what I am guessing is an art shot.

Beyond the lights and camera's I was further impressed with the guy that did the interview. While he was not on camera he knew how to animate the people he was interviewing to get animated responses. I never knew how much impact this person could have on the outcome.

We will see what the outcome looks like. I will share the video when it is complete.

Another gaget I love

I had been researching the Flip camcorder. I was intrigued at my last HTG meeting where a vendor gave one away (Great Idea) Speaking with my parents before Christmas, my dad was interested in getting one for my sister. He purchased it and gave it to her just before their baby was born. What a great gift. So after seeing theirs (Camera, not the baby) I had to have one. It arrived today.
  • Software is easy to use.
  • Manual is simple
  • Unit is very simple and intuitive
  • It is easy to publish to Facebook, You Tube and others
  • I can create video greeting cards (VERY EASILY)
  • Email videos (Via a link that is created on the Flip site)

Over all it is so very simple. I will attempt to add my first Blog Video (Probably called something)

Hey, look at that, I DID IT! I have a feeling you will be seeing more! And yes, it was that nice out today here in Kansas!

A guest blogger would like to add to Saturday's blog

Point 5. I have learned that when people ask how I am doing, they don't mean me anymore, they mean Parker. I hate to admit it, but I truly am beginning to realize how selfish I was. I have to cater to Parker now. I can't get my nails done, my hair, tanning, 5 days a week gym time for 2 hours each trip. Life is changing. Looks like gym time will be cut to 3-4 days a week for about 1 hour after Jeremy gets home from work. Parker doesn't like my nails anyway and turns out Parker doesn't care what color my hair is. It's amazing what life lessons you can learn from a baby that really don't have anything to do with what is important in life anyway. I think we will keep him, especially since he cane teach me everything I need to know about what is actually important in life since I was sadly mistaken before.
