The year of the Tablet? Not so far!

With over 200 models shown at CES I would have thought by now several would have started showing up.

Eliminating all the 7 inch versions (I have now had a chance to spend a little time with and it is NOT the right form factor. I will save that for a future post) this leaves us with one choice.

The Motorola Xoom running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) While it is not 4:3 rather it is 16:9 the form factor is at least close. However I do know a couple of people that have experience with this device and their statement is that it has several bugs, locks up a bit. I would think that this may be true due to the fact it is the first high production model of 3.0. I am sure that they will resolve these issues. With its cost similar to the iPad, why not wait till it is baked!

The real question is, where is everyone else? HP has its new unit coming summer, Blackberry comes in 7 inch, Viewsonic has the 7 inch. Lots of 2.2 Android devices out. Apple has had the iPad out for over a year and has released version 2. They have such a head start, will anyone challenge?

PS I still love the iPad.
